More images from the CSA – pick your own flowers

Can never have enough of the morning light in the kitchen:
The local farm was selling heirloom tomatoes in bulk – so we took them up on it, roasting about 5 pounds for a nice, chunky sauce:
We love our CSA, and every week is like Christmas. I love heading up with our empty bags to find out what we’ll be eating each week. However, sometimes you get that one gift from Great-Aunt Hilda, where you ask yourself “when am I ever going to use that?” This week, that gift came in the form of beets and turnips. I attempted beet-muffins, a la Farm Share Eating (epic fail, by the way – beet-muffin-batter all over the bottom of the oven… – will try a version with eggs in the recipe with our next crop of beets). And roasted the turnips with some carrots and apples in hopes of getting some valuable vitamins into The Boy (he was less than thrilled). At any rate, at least the light in the kitchen was pretty and I got a weekly photo out of it!

Can’t remember what time he woke up on this day… but if he’s got his sleepy-face on and spectacular bed-head, I can only imagine what he’s looking at…
We spent some time with my parents this weekend. They always have lovely sunsets on their little hill. I had to do a lot of PhotoShop doctoring for this photo to look decent. Anyone have tips on how to take good sunset photos – keeping enough of the foreground illuminated, and not making the sky look like it’s about to explode?
Unfortunately, none of my festive, patriotic photos came out. So here is a shot of my lovely eggplant-plant. And a little taste of our day-to-day. We found out that The Boy’s daycare is closing at the middle of next month, and we’re quite distressed. We love the people and the program and hope there will be someone else out there who will embrace The Boy as much as they have.
Some fairly decent shots this week…
Perfect serendipity at the post office one morning:
More hills and grasses in Ashfield:
And a weekend getaway to Meadowlark Inn at Brattleboro, VT. Check it out: comfy rooms, beautiful grounds, delicious breakfast. Definitely worth the trip:

Project 365 turns into Project 52. I decided that getting a good picture up here every day wasn’t working out. This was supposed to be a fun project, and it just isn’t right now. So I’m adjusting accordingly. My daily photoblog is now a weekly photoblog. Hopefully the posts will be of better quality! This week I took a lot of family photos and, as usual, flowers and The Boy. I really want to improve my landscape photography skills. So here’s my best shot of a dairy farm up on Route 116. Cheers!

As with any profession, there are slow times. Especially in a recession. At my office, now is one of those times. Today was spent re-stocking, cataloging, and re-organizing our library. As I lined up all of these Landscape Architecture Magazines, I felt a little pride as I came across each of the covers displaying our designs. We do good work. Hopefully we’ll get some in soon.
